You don’t have to fly to French Polynesia or the South Pacific to vacation in an overwater bungalow. Thankfully, there are resorts in the Caribbean that offer this kind of secluded, romantic getaway with a much shorter travel time. Private plunge pools, overwater hammocks, and butler service are often part of the deal, and gorgeous views and easy access to the water are always standard. Here are our top picks for the resorts with the most secluded overwater bungalows in the Caribbean.

1. Royalton CHIC Antigua, An Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort

St John’s, Antigua

At adults-only Royalton CHIC Antigua, you can stay perched above Antigua’s Dickenson Bay in a Chairman Overwater Bungalow. Your vacation begins with a private check-in experience, and champagne will be waiting for you upon your arrival. During your stay at the all-inclusive resort, a butler will tend to your needs, and you can order from any resort restaurant for in-room dining if desired.

Relax in your private pool or hammock suspended over the water. Soaking tubs, luxe bath amenities, and an aromatherapy menu add to the serenity. Chairman Overwater Bungalows are also offered at Royalton Antiqua. That resort is not exclusively adults-only, though the bungalows are.

2. St. George’s Caye Resort

You’ll be greeted at the airport and transported by private van and boat to your private-island getaway at St. George’s Caye Resort. If you’ve booked one of the six overwater cabanas at the adults-only resort, you can step out onto the half-moon dock to take in sunset views or lounge in the hammock on your private porch. Thatched roofs and Belizean hardwood ceilings evoke rustic elegance, and each cabana has a private bath and air-conditioning.

A vacation here is a true escape; there are no TVs and phones in any of the guest accommodations and Wi-Fi is only available in the main lodge. Instead you can fill your time swimming, snorkeling, fishing, and finding your bliss at the on-site spa. Dining at the resort is a farm-to-table experience, and the meal plan includes made-to-order breakfast each morning and daily set menus for lunch and dinner, all enjoyed on a covered dining porch.

3. Sandals South Coast

A heart-shaped boardwalk connects the secluded Blue Mahoe Overwater Butler Villas at Sandals South Coast. Inside you’ll find vaulted ceilings, spa-style bathrooms, custom crafted king-sized beds, and glass floor panels for watching the marine life below. Step out onto your private patio to enjoy a Tranquility Soaking Tub for two, outdoor shower, and direct ocean access.

Butler service and 24-hour in-room dining mean couples never have to leave the villa if desired. But if they do want to explore the adults-only all-inclusive resort, which is located in a 500-acre nature reserve along a two-mile stretch of white sand beach in Whitehouse, they’ll find nine specialty restaurants, seven bars, and a wide range of activities at the ready. (Sandals South Coast will reopen on May 30, 2026, after suffering some damage during the 2025 hurricane season.)

Located on a private island off the coast of Dangriga, Belize, Thatch Caye offers a sense of seclusion from the get-go. Take that even further by booking one of the five Belize Premier Overwater Bungalows, where you can admire endless Caribbean views from the hammock on your private deck.

The all-inclusive resort offers true barefoot elegance and an intimate getaway, with a maximum of 30 guests at a time. Wi-Fi is only available in common areas, but you won’t miss it while you’re paddleboarding, kayaking, and snorkeling right from shore. Belizean cuisine and cocktails are on the menu, sometimes served at picnic tables under the stars. The Muy’Ono Resort is just minutes from the Belize Barrier Reef, and staff can help guests book scuba and snorkeling excursions as well as tours of Belize’s jungles.

Butler service and 24-hour in-room dining are included in the experience. And beyond your bungalow, the all-inclusive resort offers scuba diving and a range of watersports to help you explore the turquoise waters surrounding you, as well as tennis, golf, and other land-based activities. Twelve restaurants and seven bars serve up Caribbean views and everything from Indian to Italian cuisine.

6. Nayara Bocas del Toro

Bocas Del Toro, Panama

This adults-only all-inclusive resort might be located on a private island in Panama, but it takes design cues from Bali. In the overwater bungalows, that means you’ll find touches like carved Balinese-style teak wood and Balinese tumpang sari canopies over the king beds. But don’t worry, the bungalows still have private plunge pools, oceanfront swim-up terraces, and glass floor inlays for peeking at what’s swimming below you.

The eco-conscious resort includes two restaurants, and a new dinner menu each night spotlights local cuisine. Kayak or paddleboard from the world’s first aerial beach on stilts or float in the 70-foot-long freshwater pool. You can also arrange a tour of the Bocas del Toro Archipelago with a private boat and captain or enjoy a massage on your private villa terrace.

7. Princess Senses The Mangrove

Green Island, Jamaica

A villa stay starts with an in-suite check-in process and includes relaxing experiences like floating breakfasts served in your private pool and a complimentary session in the spa’s hydrotherapy area.

Overwater villa guests also enjoy Platinum Club privileges at the resort, which include access to the Platinum Club’s rooftop bar, fine-dining restaurant, infinity pool, and private beach area and priority à la carte restaurant reservations. Multiple restaurants offer a range of cuisine and dining vibes, and guests also have access to the neighboring Princess Grand Jamaica resort.
