Florida's best luxury resorts are dotted around the state, from beachfront properties to big cities.

When some people think of a Florida vacation, images of theme parks or overly packed beaches may come to mind. But when I think of a prime vacation in the Sunshine State, my mind immediately goes to one of Florida’s luxury resorts, where beachside charm and historic hotels offer a host of amenities to travelers looking to slow down and live the quintessential Florida lifestyle.

From adorable boutique resorts that offer a taste of Central Florida to beachside escapes up and down the coast, the best luxury resorts in Florida offer something for every type of traveler, from those going solo, traveling with friends, a couple’s getaway, and even families with kids in tow.

Right in the heart of Miami Beach’s Art Deco District is the Ritz-Carlton, South Beach. The oceanfront resort offers everything from a fantastic spa and dining by José Andrés Group to beach service and curated experiences for families (hello, culinary tours of Little Havana and private adventures through the Everglades). And after a day of fun, you can rest your head in one of the spacious accommodations, which feature marble bathrooms with Diptyque amenities. Some rooms even offer private balconies or poolside patios.

The recently opened Naples Beach Club, A Four Seasons Resort is the brand’s first Gulf Coast property, set along 1,000 feet of beach. The resort offers 220 rooms, which range in style from resort-view guest rooms to massive two-bedroom suites. During the day, you can enjoy a rejuvenating treatment at the Sanctuary Spa, or opt for some fun in the sun at three different pools or the beach. The resort also has a Racquet Club, where you can enjoy year-round tennis on six different courts. As the sun sets, head to one of the incredible restaurants onsite, including The Merchant Room, from two-time James Beard Award-winning Chef Gavin Kaysen. The Sunset Bar also highlights cocktails and Latin-infused tapas, paired with picture-perfect views.

The Don CeSar, St. Pete Beach

Known as the Pink Palace, The Don CeSar is one of the most iconic beach resorts in Florida, welcoming guests since 1928. The family-friendly resort offers a host of amenities, including complimentary kayaks and paddleboards to use at the private beach, two heated pools, a luxurious spa, and more. One of my favorite spots to hang out is the 1920s-inspired Lobby Bar. Here, live jazz is played throughout the evening as you enjoy cocktails and small plates. But the Lobby Bar is just one of the nine dining options across the sprawling property. Of course, there are plenty of room styles to choose from, ranging from two-person Luxury King rooms to pink palatial suites that can sleep eight and have a private rooftop terrace overlooking the bay.

If you’re looking for a beach retreat where luxury meets family-friendly fun, look no further than the Conrad Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort. The beachfront property boasts 290 all-suite accommodations, so there’s always plenty of room for the entire family. Each suite boasts a gourmet kitchen, Italian marble bathrooms, and private balconies. And while you may want to stay in your room for the entire stay, a lot is going on throughout the property, so you’ll want to get out and explore. I love the sixth-floor Sky Deck, which offers a heated pool and great views of the coast, plus there’s daily yoga, bike rentals, and beach service. And don’t forget about the scrumptious dining, including Vitolo, a family-owned Italian restaurant where ingredients are imported from the chefs’ farm in Italy.

While Orlando may be known for its theme parks and over-the-top themed suites, The Alfond Inn is hiding in one of the most affluent neighborhoods. The AAA Four Diamond hotel in Winter Park offers 183 rooms with bright touches of Florida charm, with yellow and teal accents. The hotel also boasts an incredible art collection that is part of the Rollins Museum of Art. You can tour the galleries on your own or take a curated walking tour on the first Wednesday of the month. Additionally, the spa is one of the best in Orlando, featuring experiential showers, a sauna and steam room, a relaxation area, a private pool, and seven treatment rooms.

Eau Resort & Spa, Palm Beach

Travelers looking for a luxury coastal escape will love Eau Resort & Spa in Palm Beach. The glamorous resort is set along the beach with two oceanfront pools, a private beach, and an award-winning spa. The property is great for families looking for a relaxing vacation thanks to the on-site Kids & Teens Club, where children can enjoy activities throughout the day. Just know that kids ages 3-12 are an additional cost, while the teen club for those 13-17 is complimentary. When it’s time for some family bonding, you can enjoy complimentary bikes and non-motorized water sports before heading to dinner at the recently opened Nobu- yes, that Nobu from acclaimed chef Nobu Matsuhisa.

Even though it’s only been open for about a year, Cabot Citrus Farms has become a beacon for luxury travel in Florida. The 1,200-acre resort offers luxury cottages for families, groups of friends, or couples. At the resort, there’s a host of activities and amenities, including four golf courses with 10-18 holes each, bass fishing, axe throwing, pickleball, and more. There’s also a range of dining options, from casual eateries like Grange Hall and pizzas at The Porch to Mexican cuisine at Cantina 21.
